Canada Dental Benefit
The Government of Canada has created an interim Canadian dental benefit to help lower dental costs for eligible families. As of December 1, 2022, parents and guardians can apply if the child receiving dental care does not already have a private insurance plan, and is under the age of 12 years.

Who qualifies?
- Families with children under 12
- An adjusted family net income under $90 000 without employer-provided dental insurance.

You will need a My CRA account in order to apply online.
What do I receive?
Depending on your income, up to $1300 per child.
INCOME UNDER $70 000
- $650 for dental care services received between Oct 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023
- $650 for dental care services received between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024
Total: $1300 per child
INCOME BETWEEN $70 000 - $79 999
- $390 for dental care services received between Oct 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023
- $390 for dental care services received between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024
Total: $780 per child
INCOME BETWEEN $80 000 - $89 999
- $650 for dental care services received between Oct 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023
- $650 for dental care services received between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024
Total: $520 per child

- The payment will not reduce other federal income-tested benefits such as the Canada Workers Benefit, the Canada Child Benefit, and the Goods and Services Tax Credit
- You can apply for the payment in advance and regardless of the amount of the actual bill you incur. You must keep receipts in case they are ever asked for to prove you actually went to the dentist.
- You also qualify if you have dental benefits under social services programs if you have unreimbursed out of pocket costs.
OTHER QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- You must have filed your 2021 income tax return.
- You must receive the Canada Child Benefit
